## Biography

Julia Swayne Gordon (born Sarah Victoria Smith) was an American actress. She was born on 29 October 1878 in Columbus, Ohio, and died on 28 May 1933 in Los Angeles, California. She began her career in stock theatre before moving into film, working first with the Edison Company and then Vitagraph Studios from around 1908.

Gordon appeared in at least 228 films between 1908 and 1933. She is credited as Mrs. Armstrong in *Wings* (1927), Mrs. Van Norman in *It* (1927) and in *Broken Lullaby* (1932). Her other screen credits include *The Battle Cry of Peace* (1915), *Scaramouche* (1923) and numerous silent features and early talkies.
