## Biography

Julie Delpy is a French-American actress, screenwriter and director. Born in Paris in 1969, she is the daughter of actors Albert Delpy and Marie Pillet. She began acting as a child and made her screen debut in Jean-Luc Godard’s *Détective* (1985).

Delpy is known for roles in Krzysztof Kieślowski’s *Three Colours* trilogy (1993–1994) and as Céline in Richard Linklater’s *Before* trilogy (*Before Sunrise*, 1995; *Before Sunset*, 2004; *Before Midnight*, 2013), the latter two of which she co-wrote. She has also directed and written several features, including *Two Days in Paris* (2007). She studied filmmaking at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and became a US citizen in 2001.

In 2025 she played French president Vivienne Toussaint in the Netflix series *Hostage*.
