## Biography

Julie Martin is an American television writer and producer. She has written for the NBC crime dramas *Homicide: Life on the Street* (1993), *Law & Order* (1990), *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (1999), *Law & Order: Criminal Intent* (2001) and *Law & Order: Organized Crime* (2021). She has also written episodes of *L.A. Law* (1986) and *Kings* (2009).

Martin began her television writing career on *L.A. Law*, where she worked as a story editor and writer. She later joined the staff of *Homicide: Life on the Street* as a story editor and writer for its third season in 1994, rising to co-executive producer by the final season. She collaborated frequently with showrunner Tom Fontana.

For her work on *Homicide*, Martin won a Humanitas Prize and received a Writers Guild of America Award nomination. She has also been nominated for an Edgar Award for her contributions to *Law & Order: Criminal Intent*. She served as an executive producer on *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* from 2011 until 2025.
