Harris (1923–2004) was an American actor whose career spanned four decades in film and television. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he served as a medic in the US Army during the Second World War and later worked as a nurse and bouncer in New York City jazz clubs before entering acting. Harris made his screen debut in *Nothing But a Man* (1964). He appeared in numerous blaxploitation films of the 1970s, including *Super Fly* (1972), *Black Caesar* (1973) and *Hell Up in Harlem* (1973), and played the steel-armed villain Tee Hee in the James Bond film *Live and Let Die* (1973). Other notable film roles include Inspector Daniels in *The Taking of Pelham One Two Three* (1974) and Boan in *King Kong* (1976). He also had guest roles in television series such as *ER* and *The Golden Girls*. Harris was a member of the Negro Ensemble Company and appeared on Broadway in *No Place to Be Somebody*.
