He worked on more than one hundred films between 1907 and 1948, often credited as J. Julius, and is best known for his collaborations with directors Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller. His credits include *A Man There Was* (1917), *The Outlaw and His Wife* (1918), *Sir Arne's Treasure* (1919) and *The Phantom Carriage* (1921). He was noted for his use of double-exposure techniques, particularly the multiple exposures in *The Phantom Carriage*. Jaenzon also co-directed the first Swedish sound film, *Säg det i toner* (1929), with Edvin Adolphson.
