We value that mixture, though the repeated casting shows less of her abilities than her theatre work suggests. When Jullan Kindahl's Agda speaks to Victor Sjöström's professor in *Wild Strawberries* (1957), she sounds entitled to an answer. Her clear delivery gives the housekeeper authority without cancelling out her loyalty. We warmed to Agda because Kindahl lets us hear how exasperating it can be to care about this isolated man. Ingmar Bergman gives the pair extended exchanges, and she makes those conversations matter without asking us to forget whose story we are watching. This was a familiar kind of part by then. She worked in Swedish theatres including the Hippodromen in Malmö, the Malmö City Theatre and the Stora Teatern in Göteborg, and appeared in 33 films between 1923 and 1962.
