## Biography

Jun Fukuda (福田純) was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and producer. He joined Toho in 1946 and worked as an assistant director on films including *Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto* (1954), *Rodan* (1956) and entries in the Samurai trilogy, before making his directorial debut in 1959.

Fukuda directed five Godzilla films for Toho, beginning with *Ebirah, Horror of the Deep* (1966) and *Son of Godzilla* (1967). He also directed entries in the Young Guy series, spy films such as *Ironfinger* (1965), and other productions including *Godzilla vs. Gigan* (1972), *Godzilla vs. Megalon* (1973) and *Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla* (1974). His final feature was *The War in Space* (1977).

Fukuda was born on 17 February 1923 in Changchun, China, and died on 3 December 2000 in Setagaya, Tokyo.
