## Biography

Jun Usami (also credited as Junya Usami or Jun'ya Usami; Japanese: 宇佐美淳也) was a Japanese actor. Born Gorō Komaki on 1 September 1910 in Anetai Village (now part of Ichinohe), Iwate Prefecture, he died on 9 May 1980. After attending Meiji University, he entered the film industry in 1938 following an introduction by his uncle, the writer Komatsu Kitamura, joining Shinkō Kinema.

Usami appeared in supporting roles across studios including Shōchiku, Daiei and Tōei. He played Shuichi Hattori in Yasujirō Ozu's *Late Spring* (1949). Other film credits include Admiral Zengo Yoshida in *Tora! Tora! Tora!* (1970) and Dr. Yamaguchi in *The Vampire Doll* (1970). From the 1960s he worked extensively in television, often in tokusatsu series and as authority figures or intellectuals.
