She began performing as a child in vaudeville under her mother Rose Thompson Hovick and later appeared on Broadway and in Hollywood films. She also directed for the stage, both on and off-Broadway. Havoc is known for her role as Elaine Wales in the film *Gentleman's Agreement* (1947). Other screen credits include *Brewster's Millions* (1945), *Hello, Frisco, Hello* (1943) and *When My Baby Smiles at Me* (1948). On television she appeared in series such as *The Outer Limits* (1963) and *Murder, She Wrote* (1984), with her final acting role in a 1990 story arc on the soap opera *General Hospital*.
