## Biography

June Lockhart was an American actress. The daughter of actors Gene Lockhart and Kathleen Lockhart, she made her film debut as a child in A Christmas Carol (1938) and appeared in supporting roles in films including Sergeant York (1941) and Meet Me in St. Louis (1944).

She made her Broadway debut in For Love or Money (1947) and won a Tony Award for outstanding performance by a newcomer. Lockhart became best known for her television work, playing Ruth Martin on Lassie (1958–1964) and Maureen Robinson on Lost in Space (1965–1968), as well as Dr Janet Craig on Petticoat Junction (1968–1970). She received two Emmy Award nominations.

Her career spanned nearly nine decades, with later guest appearances on series including Grey's Anatomy and a voice role in the 2021 Netflix reboot of Lost in Space. She died on 23 October 2025, aged 100.
