## Biography

Jung Byung-gil is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He trained at the Seoul Action School and graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in film. His directorial debut was the 2008 documentary *Action Boys*, about stuntmen.

He gained wider recognition with *Confession of Murder* (2012), for which he won awards including Best Screenplay at the Baeksang Arts Awards. International attention followed with the action thriller *The Villainess* (2017), which he directed, wrote and produced; it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His later film *Carter* (2022) continued his work in action cinema.
