## Biography

Jürgen Knieper is a German film score composer. Born on 14 March 1941 in Karlsruhe, he studied at Berlin's State High School of Music.

He began a long collaboration with director Wim Wenders on *The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick* (1972). For Wenders' *The Wrong Move* (1975) he received the German Film Award for Best Music. His other scores for the director include *The American Friend* (1977), *Christiane F.* (1981), *The State of Things* (1982) and *Wings of Desire* (1987). Knieper was nominated for the European Film Award for Best Composer for *December Bride* (1990). His further credits include *River's Edge* (1986) and *Lisbon Story* (1994).
