## Biography

Justin Marks (born 1980) is an American screenwriter, producer and television showrunner. He graduated from Columbia University in 2002 after studying architecture.

Marks wrote the screenplay for the live-action *The Jungle Book* (2016), directed by Jon Favreau. He received a story credit, shared with Peter Craig, on *Top Gun: Maverick* (2022). He created and served as showrunner on the series *Counterpart* (2017–2019) and, with his wife Rachel Kondo, created and showran the 2024 adaptation *Shōgun*.

His earlier credits include the screenplay for *Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li* (2009). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for *Top Gun: Maverick*.
