## Biography

Kaaren Verne was a German-born actress who worked in British and American film and television. Born Ingeborg Greta Katerina Marie-Rose Klinckerfuss in Berlin on 6 April 1918, she was originally a stage actress and member of the Berlin State Theatre. She fled Nazi Germany in 1938 and made her English-language screen début in the British film *Ten Days in Paris* (1940).

After emigrating to the United States, Verne appeared in numerous films, including *All Through the Night* (1942), *Kings Row* (1942) as Elise Sandor, *Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon* (1942), *The Seventh Cross* (1944), *The Bad and the Beautiful* (1952), *Ship of Fools* (1965) and *Madame X* (1966). She also had television roles, among them in *The Twilight Zone*. She died in Los Angeles on 23 December 1967.
