## Biography

Karel Škvor was a Czech production designer and film architect. Born on 2 November 1910 in Benešov, he studied architecture at ČVUT after initial engineering studies. He began working in film in the 1940s at Barrandov Studios, following earlier experience as an interior designer, and contributed to the sets of more than eighty Czechoslovak films.

Škvor is known for his production design on *The Shop on Main Street* (1965), *Lemonade Joe* (1964), *Happy End* (1967) and *Witchhammer* (1970). He also created sets for historical films including the Hussite trilogy directed by Otakar Vávra. His final completed work was on *Hry lásky šálivé* (1971). He died in Prague on 17 June 1971.
