## Biography

Kari Kankaanpää is a Finnish production designer. He began his studies in production design at Taideteollinen korkeakoulu in 2004. During time abroad he contributed to the special effects and art department on *District 9* (2009).

His first feature production design credit was *Hella W* (2012), for which he received a Jussi award for best production design. Subsequent credits include *The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki* (2016), *Compartment No. 6* (2021, also a Jussi winner), *It Came from the Desert* (2018), *Aurora* (2019), *Kraken* (2026) and *Nightborn* (2026). He has also worked on Finnish television series including *Nörtti: DragonSlayer666* and the first season of *Nymfit*.
