Karl Wellert is a German cinematographer born on 5 February 1902 in Görlitz. He began working in the camera department during the silent era, with credits on films including *Wildnis* (1922), *Die Küsse der Ira Toscari* (1922), *Die rollende Kugel* (1927), *Das Schicksal einer Nacht* (1927) and *Wanderung durch die Arbeit des Vaterländischen Frauenvereins vom Roten Kreuz* (1928).

Wellert served as a camera operator on Leni Riefenstahl's *Triumph of the Will* (1935), one of a large team filming the 1934 Nuremberg Rally.

Later credits include camera work on *Die sieben Kleider der Katrin* (1954) and television productions, as well as directing *Dr. Hardings Tagebuch* (1952).
