## Biography

Kate Torgovnick May is a writer for television and a former journalist. She began her career writing for publications including *Jane Magazine*, *The New York Times* and *The Atlantic*, and is the author of the narrative nonfiction book *CHEER! Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders*.

Her book provided the inspiration for the CW series *Hellcats* (2010–2011), on which she served as a consulting producer (credited as Kate Torgovnick) and contributed writing. She later worked as a staff writer on *NCIS* (2019–2020), penning episodes including “Musical Chairs” and “Schooled”. She has also held roles at TED Talks and developed other projects for television and audio.
