Katherine Heigl is an American actress and former model. Born on 24 November 1978 in Washington, District of Columbia, she began modelling as a child with Wilhelmina Models and made her film debut in *That Night* (1992).

She appeared in films including *My Father the Hero* (1994) and *Under Siege 2: Dark Territory* (1995), and played Isabel Evans in the series *Roswell* (1999–2002). Heigl is known for her role as Izzie Stevens in the medical drama *Grey's Anatomy* (2005–2010), for which she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.
