## Biography

Kathleen Burke (5 September 1913 – 9 April 1980) was an American actress. Born in Hammond, Indiana, she worked as a fashion model and radio actress in Chicago before winning a Paramount Pictures talent contest from around 60,000 entrants to play Lota the Panther Woman in *Island of Lost Souls* (1932).

Her film career in the 1930s included roles in *Murders in the Zoo* (1933), *The Merry Widow* (1934), *The Lives of a Bengal Lancer* (1935) as Tania Volkanskaya, and *The Last Outpost* (1935). She appeared in around twenty films before retiring from screen acting in 1938. In the early 1940s she performed in summer theatre productions.
