Born Olive Kathryn Grandstaff on 25 November 1933 in West Columbia, Texas, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1955. She appeared in supporting roles in several 1950s films, including *Operation Mad Ball* (1957), *The 7th Voyage of Sinbad* (1958) and *Anatomy of a Murder* (1959), in which she played Mary Pilant. In 1957 she married the singer and actor Bing Crosby and largely retired from acting, though she later hosted a local television talk show and returned to the stage after his death in 1977.
