## Biography

Keith Aberdein is a New Zealand writer, journalist and occasional actor. He began his career in journalism and public relations before moving into television scriptwriting in the early 1970s.

He contributed to pioneering New Zealand television dramas including episodes of *Pukemanu* and *Close to Home*, and was a writer on the historical miniseries *The Governor* (1977). Aberdein co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film *Utu* (1983) with director Geoff Murphy. He also wrote for later series such as *Chances* and *The Paper Man*, and the film *The Last Tattoo* (1994).

As an actor he appeared in *Smash Palace* (1982). Aberdein was born in London in 1943.
