## Biography

Ken Estin is an American television writer and producer. He began his career as a freelance writer, with his first professional script for the series *Taxi* (1978). He later served as a producer on the show and became its showrunner.

Estin worked as a writer and producer on *Cheers* (1982). He co-created *The Tracey Ullman Show* with James L. Brooks and developed early animation segments with Matt Groening that led to *The Simpsons*. He also rewrote the screenplay for the film *Beverly Hills Cop* (1984) and received a special thanks credit on *Big* (1988).

Estin won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1982 for writing the *Taxi* episode 'Elegant Iggy' and another in 1989 for producing *The Tracey Ullman Show*. He received a Writers Guild of America Award in 1979 and has multiple additional Emmy nominations.
