## Biography

Ken Niles (1906–1988) was an American radio announcer and occasional actor. He began his radio career in the late 1920s at KJR in Seattle, Washington, and created a series of original radio dramas called Theater of the Mind in 1928. He worked as a commercial announcer on programmes including Bing Crosby's series in the 1930s and several Camel Cigarettes-sponsored shows, notably The Abbott and Costello Show.

Niles appeared in a number of films, often in uncredited roles as announcers or narrators. His most notable screen credit was as the lawyer Leonard Eels in the film noir *Out of the Past* (1947). He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his radio work, one of the first awarded to brothers alongside his sibling Wendell Niles.
