## Biography

Kent L. Wakeford (23 January 1928 – 10 October 2020) was an American cinematographer. Born in Los Angeles, he apprenticed to a fashion photographer while at school, worked as a cameraman for the Douglas Aircraft Company and served two years as a motion-picture cameraman in the US Army Signal Corps. He later became a freelance documentary and advertising cameraman and co-founded the commercial production company Wakeford/Orloff Productions.

Wakeford’s first major feature credit was as director of photography on Martin Scorsese’s *Mean Streets* (1973). He also shot Scorsese’s *Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore* (1974) and worked on films including *Black Belt Jones* (1974), *China O’Brien* (1990) and *Wedding Bell Blues* (1996), as well as episodes of the television series *L.A. Law* (1986–1988).
