Kenya Barris is an American film and television writer, producer and director. He was born on 9 August 1974 in Inglewood, California, and attended Clark Atlanta University. He began his career writing for television in the late 1990s.

Barris created the ABC sitcom *black-ish* (2014–2022) and its spin-offs *grown-ish* (2018–) and *mixed-ish* (2019–2021). His film writing credits include *Girls Trip* (2017), *Shaft* (2019), *Roald Dahl's The Witches* (2020), *Coming 2 America* (2021) and *You People* (2023), which he also directed.
