## Biography

Kevin Elyot (18 July 1951 – 7 June 2014) was a British playwright, screenwriter and actor. Born in Birmingham, he was educated at King Edward’s School and the University of Bristol, where he studied theatre. He began his career as an actor, appearing with companies including Gay Sweatshop, before turning to writing.

His stage plays include *Coming Clean* (1982), which won the Samuel Beckett Award, and *My Night with Reg* (1994), which transferred to the West End and won Evening Standard and Laurence Olivier Awards. Screen credits include adaptations for *Agatha Christie's Poirot* (2003–2013) and *Agatha Christie's Marple* (2004–2013), as well as *No Night Is Too Long* (2002), *Clapham Junction* (2007) and *Christopher and His Kind* (2011).
