## Biography

Kevin Murphy is an American screenwriter, television producer, lyricist and composer. He began his television career writing for series including *Big Brother Jake*, *Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog*, *Weird Science* and *Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show*. He later worked on *Ed*, *Reaper* and *Caprica*.

From 2004 to 2007 he served as head writer and co-executive producer on *Desperate Housewives*. He wrote the book and lyrics for the stage musical *Reefer Madness* and co-wrote its 2005 television adaptation, for which he and Dan Studney won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. He also co-wrote the book and lyrics for the stage musical *Heathers: The Musical*.

Murphy graduated from Drew University. Other credits include creating *Valentine* and *Hellcats*, and writing for *Defiance* and *The Son*.
