## Biography

Klaus Maeck is a German film producer born on 28 July 1954 in Hamburg. He began in the late 1970s punk scene, running Hamburg’s first punk record shop, Rip Off, and co-founding the independent music publisher Freibank. He also wrote and produced the cult cyberpunk film *Decoder* (1984).

In 2003 Maeck co-founded the production company Corazón International with Fatih Akin and Andreas Thiel. He has produced or co-produced Akin’s films including *Head-On* (2004), on which he also worked as music consultant, *The Edge of Heaven* (2007), *Chiko* (2008) and *Soul Kitchen* (2009), as well as *Takva: A Man’s Fear of God* (2006) and *Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul* (2005).

Maeck later established Interzone Pictures and co-directed, wrote and produced the documentary *B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979–1989* (2015).
