## Biography

Kôichi Hamamura is a Japanese production designer, set decorator and property master. He worked extensively in the art department on films directed by Akira Kurosawa, serving as property master on *Seven Samurai* (1954), *Throne of Blood* (1957), *The Hidden Fortress* (1958), *The Bad Sleep Well* (1960) and *Yojimbo* (1961), and as set decorator on *Dreams* (1990) and *Rhapsody in August* (1991).

Later credits include set decoration on *Sailor Suit and Machine Gun* (1981) and *The Challenge* (1982). He received a production design credit on Peter Greenaway’s *The Pillow Book* (1995).
