## Biography

Kumi Mizuno is a Japanese actress. Born Maya Igarashi on 1 January 1937 in Niigata, Japan, she graduated from the acting school of the Haiyuza Theater Company and made her screen debut in 1957 in *Crazy Society*.

She appeared in numerous Toho films in the 1960s, including *Matango* (1963) as Mami Sekiguchi, *Frankenstein Conquers the World* (1965) as Dr. Sueko Togami, *Invasion of Astro-Monster* (1965) as Miss Namikawa, *Ebirah, Horror of the Deep* (1966) as Dayo, and *The War of the Gargantuas* (1966) as Akemi Togawa. She returned to the Godzilla series as Prime Minister Machiko Tsuge in *Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla* (2002) and as Commander Akiko Namikawa in *Godzilla: Final Wars* (2004).

Mizuno received the Kinuyo Tanaka Award in 2017.
