Kurt Johnstad is an American screenwriter. He began his career in film production, working as an assistant director and key grip on several projects before transitioning to writing. His first produced screenplay was the 1997 action film *True Vengeance*.

Johnstad is known for his long collaboration with director Zack Snyder. He co-wrote the screenplay for *300* (2006), which earned him a Saturn Award nomination alongside Michael Gordon and Snyder. His other credits include *Act of Valor* (2012), *300: Rise of an Empire* (2014), *Atomic Blonde* (2017), *Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire* (2023), *Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver* (2024) and *The Last Photograph* (2026).
