## Biography

Alexander von Lagorio (1890–1965) was a German cinematographer and photographer. Born in Warsaw, he studied engineering in Saint Petersburg before moving to Berlin in 1920. He entered feature film work in 1928 with trick photography on *Der Kampf der Tertia* and later worked as a camera operator, initially alongside Curt Oertel.

His most notable contribution came from his collaboration with Leni Riefenstahl on the two-part documentary *Olympia* (1938), for which he served as one of the cinematographers. He also photographed the first full-length German colour feature film, *Frauen sind doch bessere Diplomaten* (1941). Lagorio largely withdrew from active filmmaking after the war and lectured on colour film techniques.
