## Biography

Larry Balmagia is an American television writer and producer. Born Lawrence Robert Balmagia on 1 September 1953 in Los Angeles, California, he sold his first script while an undergraduate at UCLA.

He wrote eight episodes of the CBS series *M*A*S*H* (1972), beginning with the Season 6 episode *What's Up, Doc?* (1978), and served as story editor on additional episodes. His other writing credits include episodes of *Alice*, *Rhoda*, *The Jeffersons*, *Three's Company*, *Barney Miller*, *What's Happening Now!*, *Cheers* and *Wings*. As a producer, he worked on *Saved by the Bell*, *What's Happening Now!*, *Cheers* (as co-producer) and *Wings*.

Balmagia shared a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1991 as co-producer on *Cheers*. He has taught writing for television at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
