Larry Hankin is an American character actor. Born in New York City on 7 December 1937, he graduated from Syracuse University and trained with the Second City improvisational theatre group. In 1963 he moved to San Francisco, where he co-founded the improv troupe The Committee.

He has appeared in films including *Escape from Alcatraz* (1979) as Charley Butts, *Planes, Trains and Automobiles* (1987) as Doobie, *Home Alone* (1990) as Officer Balzak, *Pretty Woman* (1990) as the landlord, and *Billy Madison* (1995) as Carl Alphonse. Television credits include Mr Heckles in *Friends* and Old Joe in *Breaking Bad* (2008) and *El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie* (2019). He received an Academy Award nomination for the short film *Solly's Diner* (1980), which he wrote, directed and starred in.
