Laura Allen is an American actress born on 21 March 1974 in Portland, Oregon. She grew up on Bainbridge Island, Washington, and graduated from Wellesley College in 1996 with a degree in sociology. Before pursuing acting she worked as a domestic violence counsellor with the NYPD.

She began her career with a regular role on the soap opera *All My Children* (2000–2002) and later appeared as Lily Tyler in *The 4400* (2004–2007). Allen has had regular parts in *Dirt* (2007–2008), *Terriers* (2010) as Katie Nichols, and *Awake* (2012). She has also made guest appearances in series including *Grey's Anatomy*, *House*, *Suits*, *American Horror Story*, *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*, *Criminal Minds*, *9-1-1* and *Chicago Fire*, and featured in films such as *Mona Lisa Smile* (2003) and *Clown* (2014).
