Born in Chicago, Illinois, on 6 April 1978, she studied at California State University, Northridge and earned a master's degree in education from Hunter College. She worked as a kindergarten teacher in New York before pursuing acting and was Miss Deaf America from 2000 to 2002. Ridloff received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play for her performance as Sarah Norman in the 2018 Broadway revival of *Children of a Lesser God*.
