Laurent Petitgand is a French composer, songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and actor. Born on 28 September 1959 in Laxou, France, he first worked in film scoring with the group Dick Tracy on Wim Wenders' *Tokyo-Ga* (1985).

He has composed music for several Wenders films, including *Wings of Desire* (1987), for which he also appeared as The Bandleader, *Notebook on Cities and Clothes* (1989), *Faraway, So Close!* (1993), *Beyond the Clouds* (1995), *The Salt of the Earth* (2014) and *Pope Francis: A Man of His Word* (2018). Other credits include *The Inner Life of Martin Frost* (2007). He has composed ballet music for Angelin Preljocaj and written lyrics for Alain Bashung.
