## Biography

Lee Loeb (1 May 1910 – 25 October 1978) was an American screenwriter. Born in New York City, he wrote for Hollywood films from the mid-1930s, with credits including the story for *Shall We Dance* (1937), *It Happened in Flatbush* (1942) and several Abbott and Costello comedies such as *Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde* (1953) and *Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy* (1955). He also wrote the play *Sleep No More*, which had a brief Broadway run in 1944.

From the late 1950s he worked mainly in television, writing episodes for series including *The Farmer's Daughter* (1963–1964; eight episodes), *The Fugitive* (1966–1967; three episodes), *The Green Hornet* (1966), *Mannix* (1967–1968; two episodes) and *The Good Guys* (1969). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy or Variety for his work on *The Farmer's Daughter*.
