## Biography

Lelia Goldoni (1936–2023) was an American actress whose career spanned film and television from the late 1940s. She began with uncredited roles in *House of Strangers* (1949) and *We Were Strangers* (1949).

Goldoni trained as a dancer with the Lester Horton troupe and studied acting in a workshop run by John Cassavetes. She gained attention for her lead performance in Cassavetes's *Shadows* (1959), which earned her a BAFTA nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. She received a second BAFTA nomination for her role as Bea in Martin Scorsese's *Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore* (1974).

Other notable film credits include *The Italian Job* (1969), *The Day of the Locust* (1975), and *Invasion of the Body Snatchers* (1978), in which she played Katherine Hendley. She also appeared in numerous television series and later taught acting.
