## Biography

Lenny McLean was an English actor, unlicensed boxer and bouncer, known by the nickname 'The Guv'nor'. Born in Hoxton, London, he gained a reputation in East End bare-knuckle fighting before working as a bodyguard and in security.

He appeared in several films and television productions in the 1990s, including an uncredited role in *The Krays* (1990), a small part as a police chief in *The Fifth Element* (1997), and the recurring character Eddie Davies in the series *The Knock* (1996–1997). His most prominent screen role was as Barry the Baptist in *Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels* (1998). McLean wrote the autobiography *The Guv'nor*, published shortly after his death.

He died of lung and brain cancer on 28 July 1998, aged 49. The film *Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels* was dedicated to him.
