## Biography

Léo Pouget (Léon Eugène Pouget-Maisonneuve) was a French composer and conductor. Born in Odessa in 1875, he moved to Paris at the age of 16 and studied with Charles-Marie Widor at the Conservatoire. He later directed the Théâtre Marigny, where he also served as conductor.

Pouget composed numerous operettas, ballets and songs, as well as scores for silent films. With Victor Alix he wrote the music for Carl Theodor Dreyer's *La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc* (1928) and for *Shéhérazade* (1928). He died in Paris in 1930.
