## Biography

Leo Schwedler was a German cinematographer. Born in Berlin on 17 July 1903, he began his film career in 1917 as a technical assistant and later worked as a camera assistant before becoming a director of photography in 1926 for Romanian production companies. He returned to Germany in 1934.

Schwedler was engaged by Leni Riefenstahl’s Olympia-Film company to film the 1936 Summer Olympics. His credits include the resulting documentary *Olympia* (1938). After the Second World War he worked on a number of German documentary shorts, among them industrial and educational films released between 1950 and 1961.
