Leon Gordon, also credited as Leo Gordon Bennett, was an English-born actor, playwright and screenwriter. Born in Brighton, he studied at St John's College and became a leading man with the Boston Repertory Company before writing plays and directing in Australia. He emigrated to the United States and joined MGM in 1930.

Gordon wrote the screenplay for *Freaks* (1932) and contributed to films including *Tarzan and His Mate* (1934), *Broadway Melody of 1940* (1940) and *I Love You Again* (1940). He is also known for the play *White Cargo*, which he later adapted for the screen. He died in Los Angeles in 1960.
