## Biography

Leon Ichaso (3 August 1948 – 21 May 2023) was a Cuban-born American film and television director and writer. Born in Havana, he emigrated with his mother and sister to Mexico as a teenager before settling in New York, where his father later joined the family.

Ichaso made his feature debut co-directing the Spanish-language film *El Super* (1979). He went on to direct episodes of series including *Miami Vice* (1984), on which he also received a story credit, *Crime Story*, *The Equalizer*, *Medium*, *Criminal Minds* and *Queen of the South*. His feature films include *Sugar Hill* (1994), *Piñero* (2001) and *El Cantante* (2006). He died of a heart attack in Santa Monica, California.
