## Biography

Leon Ko Sai-tseung (Chinese: 高世章) is a Hong Kong composer for musical theatre and films. He studied music composition at Northwestern University and earned a master’s in Musical Theatre Writing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Ko is known for his Cantonese musicals, including *The Good Person of Szechwan*, *The Legend of the White Snake*, *Field of Dreams*, *The Passage Beyond*, *Sing Out*, *The Woman in Kenzo* and *The Impossible Trial*, each winning Best Score at the Hong Kong Drama Awards. His film scores include *Perhaps Love* (2005), for which he shared a Golden Horse Award for Best Original Film Song and won a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Original Film Score; *The Warlords* (2007); *That Demon Within* (2014); *Dearest* (2014); and *Monster Hunt* (2015). He received the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2025.

He comes from a family of performing artists: his mother, Lucilla You Min, was a post-war Hong Kong actress who won Best Actress at the first Golden Horse Awards; his grandfather, Bak Yuk Tong, was a noted Cantonese opera artist.
