## Biography

Leonard Chang is a Korean American writer of short stories and novels, as well as a screenwriter and television writer and executive producer. Born in Harlem, New York, he grew up on Long Island and studied philosophy at Dartmouth College and Harvard University, where he received a BA with honours; he also interned with the Peace Corps in Kingston, Jamaica.

Chang worked as a writer and producer on the FX series *Justified* (2013–2015), contributing story editor and staff writer credits across multiple seasons and receiving 'written by' credits on several episodes. He served as writer and executive producer on the FX series *Snowfall* (2017–2022) and as staff writer on the NBC series *Awake* (2012). He has also been showrunner and executive producer on *The Vince Staples Show* (2025).

As a novelist, Chang has published works including *The Fruit 'N Food*, *Dispatches from the Cold* and the noir trilogy beginning with *Over the Shoulder*.
