## Biography

Leslie Banks was an English stage and screen actor, director and producer. Born Leslie James Banks on 9 June 1890 in West Derby, Liverpool, he made his professional stage debut in 1911 and appeared in films from the early 1930s.

He is credited as the Chorus in Laurence Olivier's *Henry V* (1944). His other film roles include Count Zaroff in *The Most Dangerous Game* (1932), Bob Lawrence in *The Man Who Knew Too Much* (1934), the Earl of Leicester in *Fire Over England* (1937), Joss Merlyn in *Jamaica Inn* (1939), Oliver Wilsford in *Went the Day Well?* (1942), Colonel A. K. Holland in *The Small Back Room* (1949) and James Smith in *Madeleine* (1950).

Banks was appointed CBE in 1950. He died on 21 April 1952.
