## Biography

Leslie Browne is an American ballerina and actress. She trained at the School of American Ballet and joined the New York City Ballet before moving to the American Ballet Theatre as a soloist in 1976; she was promoted to principal dancer in 1986 and remained with the company until 1993.

Browne made her screen debut as Emilia in the 1977 film *The Turning Point*, for which she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She later appeared in the films *Nijinsky* (1980) and *Dancers* (1987), both directed by Herbert Ross, and guest-starred as Colleen in an episode of the television series *Happy Days* (1978). She has also performed on Broadway in *The Red Shoes* and works as a teacher and choreographer.
