Leslie Claire Margaret Caron is a French-American actress and dancer. Born on 1 July 1931 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, she began her career as a ballerina with the Ballets des Champs-Élysées before making her film debut as Lise Bouvier in the musical *An American in Paris* (1951).

She is known for roles including Gigi in *Gigi* (1958), Catherine Freneau in *Father Goose* (1964), Elizabeth Prideaux in *Damage* (1992), Mrs Audel in *Chocolat* (2000) and Suzanne de Persand in *Le Divorce* (2003). Caron has received a Golden Globe Award, two BAFTA Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award, and was nominated for two Academy Awards.
